Not a Normal Gmail!!

 Okay guys, bare with me through this gmail.. There's something I listened to this week called "The belief window" , a talk/devotional thing given by Hyrum Smith a bit ago.  In it he talks about how we can save this generation and how certain problems can be done away in our life due to self worth. He really lays it out amazingly.  About halfway through his talk, he shares an equation with the audience.  One that he has helped struggling teens with, and others who need help through trials, even if they don't realize what they're going through is a trial. This equation consists of 5 things.

1. Human Needs (to live, to have variety, to love/be loved and to feel important)

2. The belief window

3. Rules (If.... then)

4. Behavior/actions

5. Results.

He talks about how everything we do in life is driven by one of these basic human needs listed above and so at the end of the equation (results) we check back to the human needs and see if it satisfies that need.  He also states that RESULTS TAKE TIME!! So after years and years of that action, then you find your result.  So it kind of goes like this...

Let's just say for the sake of the analogy, I am a drug addict. That's an action that is obviously observed about me.  If that's something I regularly do, let's figure out why.  What principle would I have on my belief window?  Drugs don't harm me. (principle).  So if I believe drugs don't harm me.... Then, I'm going to take drugs (action)  What human need do you think that is satisfying?  To feel important?  Variety maybe?  Now OVER TIME what's the result going to be?  I'll probably be seriously injured, have medical problems, or be dead.  Now does that result satisfy my basic human need?  No. I will not have the variety I am searching for OR I will not feel important.  Therefore, I should change the principle on my belief window so the result can end up satisfying my needs.

Hyrum Smith uses this equation to talk about sin and repentance.  He says, "repentance is the process of changing principles on our belief window." and I wholeheartedly agree! Changing the principles on our belief window to match what our Father in Heaven wants for us, what he knows will satisfy our human needs, and how we can be blessed to the max! 

I invite each of you (as I have and will continue) to check some of your actions and run it through this belief window equation. You'll unlock blessings, gifts you may receive, and talents you may have as you change some of the principles on your belief window!v
