Week One in the Field
What up squad! I hate long emails... So I'll try and make this short while including all the best parts!
First, my companions! I'm in a trio with the zone leaders, and they're really cool guys! Elder Haskell and Elder Lafferty. Lafferty is from Tucson and he's really good with like machines! He fixed the washer AND the disposal haha. Haskell is from Payson and he's a COWBOY haha he participates competitively in roping, like cows and stuff haha so they're cool.
I'm in Cranberry Township, PA and apparently this is the nicest and wealthiest area in the mission haha so I lucked out for my first transfer... But it really is so pretty! It's very green and spacious here, and there are a lot of trees! Only rained 1 day so far haha but it's cloudy most days and I'm kinda used to the humidity already. We have the biggest ward in the mission too so that's neat. It's just a little bit smaller than the ward back in Orem UT, It's the biggest ward attendance in the mission! Lots of kids too!
Some of our friends (Investigators) are Mike and Vince. Mike is a very spiritual person and he recognizes God's hand in his life so often! Everything good that goes his way, he attributes to God. And he doesn't have much good going his way often unfortunately :/ But I really need to take a piece of his pie in learning how to see God in my life more often! Vince is a very very talkative person, and knows more about the restoration than I do haha. We'll teach him something, and he'll answer all his questions and then learn some more facts while he's at home! He is always wanting to learn more hard facts about the Church and he's very proactive.
My mission president is so cool! Really funny, chill, and nice. He knows when to have fun and when to buckle down.
Anyways, like I said, I'll keep it short. But I just wanna bear my testimony that I know God is looking out for us! He puts us in positions at the right place and at the right time. He knows what we're going through, and he will NEVER leave your side, especially during your hard times.
Love ya all!
Elder Kirkby
