Elder Cook's Visit!
WHAT UPPPPP! Guys this week has been probably the fastest week of my life! It really is true what they say, "Time flies when you're having fun!" haha I'm having a blast with all the awesome missionaries I'm with and especially all the members around us! It's really cool to see the faith some of these people have! They're teaching me, and helping me grow everyday!
So a story about this week that's pretty litty is we went to Wexford on Wednesday, and they have what is called the Gravity Hill. I thought it was fake and a hoax at first, but we went and tried it out and IT WORKS!! So basically what it is... You drive down a little hill to this stop sign, and you put the car in neutral and take your foot off of the break. It seems like you're facing downhill so you should go forward, but you actually go backward! Up the hill! You guys should all look up videos about it, because I know if I send it through gmail, it will get all blurry and not really show how cool it really is!
Elder Quentin L. Cook came and gave a devotional. It was such a powerful, and spirit filled message. In this devotional, he gave us an Apostolic witness. He said, "This is not crossing any sacred boundaries, but this is my Apostolic witness. I know Jesus Christ's voice, and I know His face. He lives." That was soooo powerful and such a blessing to hear! I know that Jesus is the Christ, and that he is our loving brother who atoned for all of our sins. He knows all of us by name, and he is cheering each and every one of us on. He wants to live with us again. So turn to him ALWAYS! Make a relationship with him, because he already has one with you.
Imma copy my big boy Elder Macy here and start doing a Babe of the week, Beef of the week, but I'm also going to add Poem of the week. So real quick, babe of the week is Elder Occon, He's a really cool guy and I've been learning so much from him and growing to love him a lot! Sadly he goes home after this transfer though :/ He's really good at animations, and voice imitations! Haha to know him is to love him. Beef of the week is Donna... Ed is a recent convert and he was living with his best friend, (They're both like 70) and taking care of him because he has alzheimers! His best friend's wife is named Donna. She is really selfish and rude. She never liked Ed being there, but he was there to take care of his friend. They recently put Ed's friend in a care home, so Donna kicked Ed out after 2 years of living with them and helping them. He didn't even get a notice to find a place to live! I really hope Donna has a softened heart soon. We've been trying to teach her. But she wants nothing to do with us.
Poem of the week!
Just a thought on what it means to me
On what the Lord hath said
I know I need to listen close
Or I might end up dead
I need to follow closely
And heed the words I hear
Or I may end up someplace
I don't want to be, I fear
If only I can do the jobs I'm given
And be more than a listener, I'm told
That I may be back with my Father
And His Son to walk those streets of gold
Scripture:
Galatians 5:22-23
22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
I know the spirit can be hard to understand sometimes, but when we feel these feelings, we should really stop, and look around, and see what God is trying to tell us.
Love you all!
Elder Kirkby
